FAQ's

Welcome to the INFRIUM FAQ. Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our infrared saunas + our products, shipping, installation, warranties, and orders.

1. Buying Guide: Choosing the Right Infrared Sauna

What is a FAR infrared sauna?

A FAR infrared sauna uses specialized infrared heating panels that warm your body directly, instead of heating the air around you like a traditional sauna.

This creates a very different sauna experience.

Instead of sitting in extremely hot air, the infrared heat penetrates your body more efficiently, allowing you to enjoy a deep sweat session at a much more comfortable temperature.

At INFRIUM, we focus specifically on premium FAR infrared sauna systems from trusted manufacturers like Golden Designs and Orivon Wellness because they deliver the best combination of comfort, performance, and low-EMF technology.

With a FAR infrared sauna, you benefit from:

β€’ direct radiant heat that penetrates the body

β€’ comfortable temperatures around 118Β°F – 140Β°F

β€’ faster heat-up times

β€’ even heat distribution from carbon heating panels

This makes FAR infrared saunas ideal for home wellness routines, recovery sessions, and daily relaxation.

What is the difference between infrared and traditional saunas?

The biggest difference is how the heat is delivered to your body.

Traditional sauna

Traditional saunas heat the air inside the room, usually using a stove and hot rocks.

Typical characteristics include:

β€’ temperatures around 170Β°F – 200Β°F

β€’ steam created by pouring water over rocks

β€’ longer warm-up times

β€’ very hot and humid air

Infrared sauna

Infrared saunas heat your body directly using infrared panels rather than heating the air.

This creates a different experience:

β€’ temperatures around 118Β°F – 140Β°F

β€’ dry heat environment

β€’ faster warm-up time

β€’ deeper heat penetration at lower temperatures

Because the heat is absorbed directly by your body, you can still experience deep sweating and relaxation without extremely high air temperatures.

This is why many people prefer infrared saunas for home use and regular wellness sessions.

Are infrared saunas worth buying for home use?

If you want regular access to sauna sessions without leaving home, an infrared sauna is one of the most convenient wellness upgrades you can make.

Instead of scheduling spa visits or gym trips, you can simply turn on your sauna and start a session whenever it fits your routine.

A home infrared sauna gives you:

β€’ instant access to relaxation and recovery sessions

β€’ the ability to use your sauna any time of day

β€’ comfortable heat levels that allow longer sessions

β€’ energy-efficient operation compared to traditional saunas

Many people incorporate infrared sauna sessions into routines such as:

β€’ post-workout recovery

β€’ evening relaxation

β€’ contrast therapy with cold plunges

β€’ daily wellness routines

Because infrared saunas are easy to install and simple to operate, they work well in most homes without complicated renovations.

What are the benefits of infrared sauna therapy?

Infrared sauna sessions are commonly used to support relaxation, recovery, and overall wellness routines.

Because infrared heat penetrates deeper into the body than heated air, the experience often feels more effective even at lower temperatures.

During a typical sauna session you may experience:

β€’ deep sweating

β€’ muscle relaxation

β€’ improved circulation

β€’ stress relief and relaxation

β€’ a calming end to your day

Many people include infrared sauna sessions as part of their fitness recovery or evening relaxation routine.

As with any wellness activity, you should consult a healthcare professional if you have specific medical concerns.

Do infrared saunas get hot enough?

Use this text to answer: Yes infrared saunas reach temperatures that are ideal for effective sauna sessions.

Most FAR infrared saunas operate between:

118Β°F – 140Β°F (48Β°C – 60Β°C)

Even though the air temperature is lower than traditional saunas, infrared heat penetrates the body more directly.

This allows you to still experience:

β€’ strong heat sensation

β€’ deep sweating

β€’ effective relaxation sessions

Many people actually prefer this temperature range because it allows longer, more comfortable sessions.uestions in as much detail as possible for your customers.

What temperature do infrared saunas reach?

Most FAR infrared saunas operate between:

118Β°F and 140Β°F

This range allows the infrared heat to warm your body effectively without the extreme air temperatures of traditional saunas.

Typical session temperatures include:

β€’ 110Β°F – 120Β°F for lighter sessions

β€’ 120Β°F – 130Β°F for moderate sessions

β€’ 130Β°F – 140Β°F for intense sessions

You can easily control the temperature using the sauna’s built-in digital control panel.

How long does it take for an infrared sauna to heat up?

Most infrared saunas reach their operating temperature in about:

15–25 minutes

Heating time can vary depending on:

β€’ the sauna size

β€’ room temperature

β€’ the model you choose

Because infrared panels heat your body directly rather than heating the air, the sauna warms up much faster than traditional saunas.

You can usually turn on the sauna, wait about 15–20 minutes, and begin your session.

Low-EMF Sauna Technology

What does low EMF mean in an infrared sauna?

EMF stands for electromagnetic fields, which are small electrical fields produced by electronic devices.

Infrared saunas use electrical heating panels, which means EMF can be generated during operation.

High-quality sauna manufacturers design their systems to reduce EMF exposure as much as possible.

Low-EMF sauna designs focus on:

β€’ improved wiring and shielding

β€’ optimized panel placement

β€’ safer electrical systems

At INFRIUM, we specifically select low-EMF FAR infrared sauna models so you can enjoy your sauna sessions with confidence.

What is PureTechβ„’ near-zero EMF technology?

PureTechβ„’ is a specialized heating technology used in premium infrared saunas, including many Golden Designs models.

This system is designed to significantly reduce electromagnetic emissions produced by the heating panels.

PureTechβ„’ technology helps provide:

β€’ near-zero EMF levels near the user’s body

β€’ consistent infrared heat performance

β€’ advanced electrical shielding

If you are specifically looking for a low-EMF infrared sauna, PureTechβ„’ systems are among the most advanced options available.

Are low-EMF saunas safer?

Low-EMF sauna systems are designed to minimize electromagnetic field exposure during sauna use.

While all electrical devices produce some EMF, premium sauna manufacturers work to reduce these levels as much as possible.

High-quality sauna designs often include:

β€’ improved electrical shielding

β€’ optimized heating panel systems

β€’ advanced wiring layouts

At INFRIUM, we prioritize sauna models that meet high engineering and safety standards, which is why low-EMF FAR infrared saunas are a key part of our collection.

Choosing the Right Size

What size infrared sauna should I buy?

The right sauna size depends on how you plan to use it, how much space you have, and whether you want a sauna just for yourself or for two or more people.

A smaller sauna is often the best choice if you want:

β€’ a compact wellness setup

β€’ a sauna for solo use

β€’ easier placement in a bedroom, gym, or basement

β€’ a simple plug-and-play option

A larger sauna is a better fit if you want:

β€’ extra room to stretch out

β€’ space for two people to sit comfortably

β€’ a more open feel during sessions

β€’ flexibility for shared use

At INFRIUM, most buyers choose between:

β€’ 1-person saunas for personal daily use

β€’ 2-person saunas for couples or anyone wanting more elbow room

β€’ 3-person saunas for extra comfort and interior space

β€’ 4-person models and larger for families or larger wellness rooms

If you’re between sizes, the best choice is usually to go slightly larger than your minimum need, especially if comfort matters more than saving a little floor space.

How many people fit in a 2-person sauna?

A 2-person infrared sauna is usually best for:

β€’ one person who wants more space

β€’ two people sitting side by side comfortably

If your goal is to use the sauna mostly alone, a 2-person sauna often feels ideal because it gives you more room to relax without taking up too much extra space.

If you plan to use the sauna with another person regularly, a 2-person model works well β€” but it is designed for seated use, not for stretching out or lying down.

So realistically, a 2-person sauna is best for:

β€’ 1 person with extra room

β€’ 2 people sitting comfortably

Is a 3-person sauna large enough for two people?

Yes! for two people, a 3-person infrared sauna is often one of the best choices.

A 3-person model gives you:

β€’ more shoulder room

β€’ a less cramped feel

β€’ more comfort during longer sessions

β€’ extra flexibility compared to a smaller 2-person model

If you want the sauna to feel more premium and spacious, a 3-person sauna is usually a better choice than a smaller unit.

For most couples, a 3-person sauna is a great option if you want:

β€’ space to sit comfortably

β€’ a more open interior

β€’ a better long-term fit

How much space does an infrared sauna require?

Choosing the right sauna size mainly depends on how you plan to use it, how much space you have, and whether the sauna will be used by one person, a couple, or multiple people at the same time.

At INFRIUM, we offer a full range of premium FAR infrared sauna sizes so you can choose the setup that fits your home and lifestyle.

Here’s how to think about the different sizes:

1 Person Infrared Sauna

A 1 person infrared sauna is perfect if you want a compact personal wellness space.

This size works well if you:

β€’ want a sauna mainly for your own daily sessions

β€’ have limited space in a bedroom, home gym, or basement

β€’ want a compact and efficient setup

These saunas are ideal for solo recovery sessions, relaxation, and daily sauna routines.

2 Person Infrared Sauna

A 2 person infrared sauna is one of the most popular options because it gives you more interior space without taking up much additional room.

This size works well if you want:

β€’ room for two people sitting comfortably

β€’ extra space for one person to stretch out and relax

β€’ a sauna that fits well in most homes

Many people choose a 2-person sauna even if they plan to use it alone most of the time, simply because the extra space feels more comfortable.

3 Person Infrared Sauna

A 3 person infrared sauna offers a noticeably more spacious interior.

This size works well if you want:

β€’ a sauna for two people with extra comfort

β€’ more space during longer sauna sessions

β€’ a more open and premium sauna experience

For couples, this is often one of the best long-term sauna sizes.

4 Person Infrared Sauna

A 4 person infrared sauna is ideal if you want a larger home sauna experience.

This size works well if you want:

β€’ a sauna for family use

β€’ space for multiple people at once

β€’ a larger wellness setup in a home gym or spa room

A 4-person sauna gives you significantly more flexibility and comfort.

6 Person Infrared Sauna

A 6 person infrared sauna is designed for larger spaces and shared wellness experiences.

This size is great for:

β€’ families

β€’ larger home gyms

β€’ dedicated wellness rooms

β€’ group sauna sessions

With the additional interior space, you can enjoy sauna sessions without feeling crowded.

8 Person Infrared Sauna

Our largest models, such as the Catalonia 8 Person Yoga & Wheelchair Accessible Near Zero EMF FAR IR Sauna, are designed for maximum interior space and flexibility.

These larger saunas can be used for:

β€’ group sauna sessions

β€’ home wellness studios

β€’ yoga or stretching inside the sauna

β€’ accessible wellness spaces

Because of the extra room, these models are often used in large home wellness rooms or professional-style wellness environments.

A simple rule when choosing sauna size

If you're deciding between two sizes, choosing slightly more space than your minimum need usually provides the best long-term experience.

Extra space makes sauna sessions feel:

β€’ more comfortable

β€’ less cramped

β€’ easier to share with others

All sauna product pages at INFRIUM include detailed dimensions so you can easily confirm the best fit for your space before ordering.

2. Installation & Electrical Requirements

Where can an infrared sauna be installed?

One of the biggest advantages of infrared saunas is that you can install them in many areas of your home.

Common installation locations include:

β€’ spare rooms

β€’ home gyms

β€’ basements

β€’ garages

β€’ wellness rooms

β€’ large bathrooms

Infrared saunas do not require plumbing or ventilation systems, which makes installation much easier than traditional saunas.

To install your sauna successfully, you simply need:

β€’ a flat and stable floor surface

β€’ access to the correct electrical outlet

β€’ enough space for the sauna and assembly

Many people create a dedicated home wellness or recovery space around their sauna.

Can an infrared sauna be placed in a garage or basement?

Yes! garages and basements are often excellent places to install an infrared sauna.

These areas usually provide:

β€’ extra space

β€’ privacy for sauna sessions

β€’ a dedicated wellness area

When installing in a garage or basement, make sure:

β€’ the sauna remains indoors and protected from moisture

β€’ the floor is flat and stable

β€’ the surrounding environment stays relatively dry

Infrared saunas are designed for indoor environments, so they should not be exposed to rain or extreme weather.

Can infrared saunas be used outdoors?

Most infrared saunas are designed for indoor installation.

Outdoor installation may be possible only if the sauna is placed in a fully protected environment, such as:

β€’ covered patios

β€’ enclosed outdoor rooms

β€’ protected spa areas

If you plan to place your sauna outdoors, it is important to choose a model that is specifically designed for outdoor use.

What type of flooring is recommended for a sauna?

Infrared saunas can be installed on many flat surfaces, including:

β€’ tile flooring

β€’ laminate flooring

β€’ concrete

β€’ vinyl flooring

β€’ hardwood floors

The most important requirement is that the surface is:

β€’ flat

β€’ stable

β€’ capable of supporting the sauna’s weight

If the room has carpet, placing a solid mat or platform under the sauna can help provide additional stability.

Do infrared saunas require special electrical wiring?

Electrical requirements depend on the size of the sauna you choose.

Smaller infrared saunas (typically 1–2 person models) often operate using a standard household outlet.

Larger sauna models may require:

β€’ a dedicated circuit

β€’ a 240V electrical connection

You can always find the exact electrical requirements:

β€’ on the product page

β€’ in the installation manual

Can infrared saunas plug into a normal outlet?

Many infrared saunas can plug directly into a standard 120V household outlet.

This makes installation very simple.

However, larger saunas may require:

β€’ 240V electrical connections

β€’ a dedicated circuit

You can confirm the electrical requirements for each model directly on the product page.

Do I need an electrician to install a sauna?

In many cases, you do not need an electrician, especially for smaller sauna models that plug into a standard outlet.

However, you may want to consult an electrician if:

β€’ your sauna requires 240V power

β€’ you want to install a dedicated electrical circuit

β€’ you are unsure about your home’s electrical setup

3. Sauna Assembly

How difficult is it to assemble an infrared sauna?

Assembling your infrared sauna is much easier than most people expect.

Most of the saunas we offer at INFRIUM, especially models from Golden Designs, are designed with a simple clasp-together panel system. This means the sauna panels lock together quickly without complicated construction.

Instead of building the sauna piece by piece, you simply:

β€’ position the base panel

β€’ attach the wall panels using built-in clasps

β€’ place the roof panel

β€’ connect the internal cables

There is no complicated carpentry or structural installation required.

Because of this design, infrared saunas are ideal for home installation without professional help.

How long does sauna assembly take?

Infrared saunas can usually be assembled very quickly.

Typical assembly times are:

β€’ 1–2 person saunas: about 20 minutes

β€’ 3–4 person saunas: about 30 minutes

β€’ larger saunas: about 45 minutes

The panels are pre-built and designed to lock together easily, which dramatically reduces installation time.

Most people are surprised by how fast the sauna comes together once the panels are in place.

How many people are required to assemble a sauna?

In most cases, two people are enough to assemble the sauna comfortably.

Two people makes it easy to:

β€’ position wall panels

β€’ hold panels while the clasps lock into place

β€’ place the roof panel securely

For larger saunas such as 4-person, 6-person, or 8-person models, having three or four people available can make the process even easier, especially when lifting larger panels.

However, the overall assembly process remains simple and straightforward.

What tools are needed for sauna assembly?

Very few tools are required to assemble an infrared sauna.

Because the panels use built-in locking clasps, most of the structure comes together without tools.

In most cases, assembly only requires:

β€’ a screwdriver for small hardware components

β€’ basic handling to position panels correctly

There is no drilling, cutting, or construction work required.

This is one of the reasons infrared saunas are such a popular choice for home wellness setups.

Do Golden Designs saunas come with instructions?

Yes.

Every sauna includes a manufacturer installation manual with step-by-step instructions.

You can also review the assembly instructions directly on the product pages before purchasing, so you know exactly how the installation process works.

The manuals explain:

β€’ panel assembly

β€’ electrical connections

β€’ control panel operation

β€’ recommended installation conditions

Because the sauna panels are pre-built and designed to fit together easily, the instructions are mainly there to guide the simple installation process.

4. Sauna Performance & Features

What temperature do FAR infrared saunas reach?

Most FAR infrared saunas operate between:

118Β°F and 140Β°F (48Β°C – 60Β°C)

This temperature range is ideal because it allows infrared heat to penetrate your body effectively while remaining comfortable to sit in.

Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas do not rely on extremely hot air.

Instead, the infrared heating panels deliver radiant heat directly to your body, which allows you to experience:

β€’ deep warming of muscles

β€’ effective sweating

β€’ comfortable sauna sessions

Most people adjust the temperature based on preference, with sessions typically falling between 120Β°F and 135Β°F.

Why do infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures than traditional saunas?

Infrared saunas work differently from traditional saunas.

Traditional saunas heat the air inside the room, which means temperatures must rise extremely high before your body begins to feel the heat.

Infrared saunas instead use radiant infrared heat, which is absorbed directly by your body.

Because of this, the sauna does not need extremely high air temperatures to be effective.

This allows you to experience:

β€’ deep body warming at lower temperatures

β€’ longer, more comfortable sauna sessions

β€’ faster warm-up times

Many people find infrared saunas easier to tolerate than traditional saunas because the air temperature is not as intense.

How much electricity does an infrared sauna use?

Infrared saunas are surprisingly energy efficient, especially compared to traditional saunas.

Typical electricity usage depends on the sauna size:

β€’ 1–2 person sauna: around 1.5 – 2 kW

β€’ 3–4 person sauna: around 2 – 3 kW

β€’ larger saunas: around 3 – 4.5 kW

Because sauna sessions usually last 20–40 minutes, the overall energy cost per session is relatively low.

Infrared saunas also heat up faster than traditional saunas, which helps reduce electricity usage.

Do infrared saunas make you sweat?

Yes. Infrared saunas can produce strong sweating, even though the air temperature is lower than traditional saunas.

Infrared heat penetrates deeper into the body, which helps warm the body from the inside.

During a typical sauna session, you will usually experience:

β€’ gradual body warming

β€’ increased circulation

β€’ deep sweating

Many people find the sweating from infrared saunas feels more comfortable and easier to tolerate compared to traditional steam saunas.

What wood is used in Golden Designs saunas?

Golden Designs infrared saunas are built using high-quality natural woods chosen for durability and sauna performance.

Depending on the model, the sauna may use:

β€’ Canadian Hemlock

β€’ Red Cedar

These woods are commonly used in premium sauna construction because they offer:

β€’ excellent durability

β€’ resistance to heat and humidity

β€’ a pleasant natural aroma

β€’ long-lasting performance

The exact wood type used for each sauna is listed on the product page specifications, so you can easily see the materials used before purchasing.

Do you offer shipping protection to my package?

During checkout, you may see the option to add Route shipping protection to your order.

Route is a third-party shipping protection service that helps protect your order against loss, theft, or damage during transit.

If something happens to your shipment while it is being delivered, Route allows you to quickly file a claim and receive support for resolving the issue.

Route protection can help cover situations such as:

β€’ packages lost during shipping

β€’ packages damaged during transit

β€’ packages marked delivered but missing

If you add Route protection at checkout, you will receive a Route confirmation email with instructions on how to track your shipment and file a claim if necessary.

Claims are typically handled directly through the Route platform, which allows issues to be resolved quickly without long freight claim processes.

Many customers choose Route protection for large purchases like saunas, as it adds an extra layer of delivery security.

Is Route shipping protection required?

No. Route protection is optional.

Your order will still ship normally even if you do not select Route during checkout.

However, some customers prefer adding Route because it provides additional protection and a faster claims process if a shipping issue occurs.

Do INFRIUM saunas include free shipping?

All saunas sold through INFRIUM include free shipping within the United States and Canada.

Because sauna shipments are large freight deliveries, shipping costs are often already included in the product price.

If additional freight charges apply (for example international shipping or remote delivery areas), they will always be clearly shown during checkout or confirmed before shipment.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. some products can be shipped internationally.

Shipping availability depends on:

β€’ the manufacturer

β€’ freight carrier availability

β€’ your delivery location

Some international orders may require additional freight charges or special delivery arrangements.

If you are unsure whether delivery is available for your location, you can contact our team before placing your order.

Freight Delivery

What is curbside delivery?

Because saunas are large and heavy items, they are shipped using professional freight carriers.

Freight shipments are typically delivered using curbside delivery, which means:

β€’ the delivery truck arrives at your home

β€’ the driver unloads the pallet from the truck

β€’ the sauna is placed at the end of your driveway or curb

After the shipment is unloaded, you will move the boxes into your home before assembly.

Will the driver bring the sauna inside?

Freight delivery drivers cannot bring the sauna inside your home.

Their responsibility is to:

β€’ transport the shipment safely

β€’ unload the pallet from the truck

β€’ place the shipment curbside

Moving the boxes indoors will need to be done by you or with help from others. But dont worry with 2 people you can easilly carry them home.

How heavy are sauna shipments?

Infrared saunas are large wellness products, so shipments can be heavy depending on the model size.

Typical shipping weights include:

β€’ 1–2 person saunas: roughly 250–400 lbs

β€’ 3–4 person saunas: roughly 400–600 lbs

β€’ larger saunas: 700 lbs or more

Because the sauna ships in multiple panels, the weight is divided across several boxes.

How many boxes will my sauna arrive in?

The number of boxes depends on the sauna size.

Typical packaging includes:

β€’ 1–2 person saunas: usually 1 large box

β€’ 3–4 person saunas: typically 2–3 boxes

β€’ larger saunas: multiple boxes on a pallet

All boxes are securely packaged for freight transport to protect the sauna during shipping.

Delivery Inspection

What should you check when your sauna arrives?

Before signing the freight delivery receipt, it is important to inspect the outside of the shipment.

Look for:

β€’ large holes or punctures in the packaging

β€’ major damage to the pallet

β€’ visible signs of freight damage

Minor scuffs or marks on the packaging can be noted on the delivery receipt.

You do not need to open the boxes during delivery, but it is important to check the external condition.

What should you do if the shipment is damaged?

If you notice significant damage to the packaging, we recommend refusing the shipment and contacting us immediately.

If you accept the delivery and later notice damage, contact our support team as soon as possible.
